UK-based gospel musician Eleana Makombe officially launched her new album at a glamorous event held at Zimbali Gardens on Saturday night, drawing notable figures from Zimbabwe’s gospel music fraternity and media industry.
The elegant launch was hosted by charismatic MC Nigel the Sleek Pastor, who kept the audience engaged throughout the evening with his energetic and humorous hosting style. Guests followed the event’s stylish invitation guidelines, arriving dressed in sleek outfits that complemented the red carpet atmosphere of the evening.
The album was produced by acclaimed producer McDonald MacDee Chidavaenzi, whose work helped shape the sound and direction of Makombe’s latest project. The album reflects a blend of contemporary gospel sounds and uplifting worship messages, a style that has increasingly defined Makombe’s musical journey.
The event attracted several notable personalities from Zimbabwe’s gospel music community. Among those in attendance were legendary gospel musician Mechanic Manyeruke, as well as celebrated gospel couple Ellard Cherayi and Sharon Cherayi. Sharon Cherayi also features as a collaborator on the new album, adding her powerful vocals to one of the project’s songs.
During the evening, entertainment journalist Tafadzwa Zimoyo also took to the stage to introduce his upcoming book, which is scheduled to be officially unveiled in July on his birthday. Zimoyo revealed that the book was edited by Makombe, highlighting yet another dimension of the singer’s creative involvement beyond music.
The program included an intimate question-and-answer session where Makombe shared insights about the inspiration behind her new album, her journey as a gospel artist based in the United Kingdom, and the spiritual message she hopes listeners will receive from the project.
Following the discussion, guests enjoyed a listening session while sharing dinner, giving them an exclusive first experience of the new songs before the album’s wider release.
The evening concluded with a lively mini concert where Makombe performed both her classic hits and new tracks from the album. The performance turned into a joyful celebration as guests rose to their feet, singing and dancing along to the uplifting gospel melodies.
