Zimbabwe’s construction industry is gaining momentum, driven by renewed public infrastructure projects, private real estate investment and expanding activity in mining, energy and transport. With this growth has come sharper focus on productivity, skills development, modern equipment and sustainable building methods. Against that background, international industry platforms such as CONEXPO-CON/AGG are drawing attention as spaces where contractors and suppliers can benchmark, learn and assess what lies ahead for the sector.

CONEXPO-CON/AGG returns to the Las Vegas Convention Center from March 3 to 7, bringing together the global construction ecosystem in one location. Organisers say more than 139,000 construction professionals are expected to attend the five-day event, which convenes equipment manufacturers, technology firms, workforce specialists and industry leaders.

“In 100 days, CONEXPO-CON/AGG brings the industry together to see the innovations, connect with the leaders and meet the makers who are redefining how the world is built,” said Dana Wuesthoff, Show Director of CONEXPO-CON/AGG. She said the event provides a snapshot of how technology, equipment and people are influencing infrastructure delivery, workforce development and broader community impact.

The 2026 edition will feature more than 2,000 exhibitors across 2.9 million square feet of exhibition space, alongside 50 educational sessions focused on emerging technologies, workforce trends and sustainability practices shaping the industry.

“It is not just about observing the future. It is about standing in the middle of it and connecting with the industry leaders who are building it,” Wuesthoff added.

She noted that the show is structured to maximise value for contractors and business owners facing time and cost constraints. “Instead of attending multiple niche events, CONEXPO-CON/AGG gives you a single, powerful platform to see equipment, experience technology, learn from innovators across every segment of construction,” she said.

New elements debuting in 2026 include the Ground Breakers Keynote Stage, which will focus on policy, technology and workforce issues such as artificial intelligence, jobsite safety, sustainability and mental health. The Community Zone will serve as an open space for informal discussions, live podcast recordings and industry conversations.

The programme also includes targeted workshops for women in construction, small business owners and maintenance professionals, as well as a broader education track covering equipment management, safety, business practices and leadership. Networking continues after hours through a series of organised evening events in Las Vegas.

Held every three years, CONEXPO-CON/AGG has become a reference point for global construction trends. For Zimbabwe’s growing construction sector, the event offers an opportunity to observe international shifts in technology, skills and practice at a time when the industry is seeking efficiency, resilience and long-term growth.
