The Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation for Humanitarian Works has taken a significant step in supporting education in vulnerable communities by covering the full tuition fees for 278 students in five schools in Hwange, Zimbabwe. Implemented alongside Zimbabwe’s Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education, this initiative targets orphans and children from families facing with severe financial and social challenges.

The initiative aims to ease the burden on these families and ensure that children can pursue education without financial hurdles. The UAE Embassy in Harare supervised the implementation of this initiative in collaboration with local educational authorities.

H.E. Jassim Mohammed Mubarak Al Qasimi, Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to the Republic of Zimbabwe, stated: “This initiative reflects the UAE’s unwavering commitment to supporting friendly nations and expanding access to education. It is part of the humanitarian legacy established by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.”

The initiative was met with wide appreciation from school administrators, students, and parents, highlighting the UAE’s commitment to solidarity and humanitarian leadership.

Future Plans for Expansion

Plans to extend the program to Binga and Gokwe schools are under discussion with the support going toward boreholes, construction of classrooms, provision of solar energy, internet connections, and donation of iPads and laptops to these rural schools.

H.E. Ambassador Al Qasimi said the Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation is undertaking an initiative to renovate five schools, focusing on enhancing essential facilities.
