Doek And Slay Fever Sweeps Zimbabwe Women

Excitement is reaching new heights as the first Doek and Slay events around Zimbabwe draw closer. Across the country, women are already shopping for this year’s colour code, while fashion retailers, well aware that the show attracts more than 30,000 women to a single arena, have begun aggressive marketing campaigns and are already reaping the rewards.

The platform created by Event Hulks has become far more than a social gathering. It has opened a safe, vibrant space for women of all ages and backgrounds to relax, express themselves, and connect. Beyond the music and glamour, Doek and Slay has evolved into a hub of empowerment, learning, and opportunity, where friendships are formed and business ideas are born and also updating personal wardrobes in trendy apparel.

For many attendees, the impact has been life-changing. “I never miss these events for anything,” said Alice Makuna. “Thanks to Doek and Slay, I met a group of sisters who import goods from China and other countries. They taught me how to trade, and now I have opened my own shops.” Her story reflects a growing number of women who have turned connections made at the event into real economic breakthroughs.

While some critics question or discourage attendance at women-only gatherings, many participants say the true value can only be understood by experiencing it firsthand. The events offer a rare environment where women can celebrate themselves freely, without judgement, and support one another’s growth.

Men, however, will never fully grasp what happens inside. The events are strictly women-only, with no exceptions, creating a unique atmosphere that many describe as liberating and transformative.

The excitement will peak when headliner Winky D, riding on the success of his Vigilance Movement, takes to the stage in Harare alongside Travellers Band, Oriyano, and Killer T at Glamis Arena on 26 April, from morning until late and if the prediction is not exaggerated the audience attendance might reach 50 000 or more. On 3 May Bulawayo will be hosting Nkosazana Daughter and Travellers Band. This is the only show with a performer from beyond the borders.

Mutare is the first stop with the legend Alick Macheso and Oriyano at Mutare Sports Club on 5 April. the Kadoma Odyssey will close their venue to all the men on 12 April where Nisha Ts will be taking notes to success in the industry from Alick Macheso, she will then share the stage with the ladies favorite Baba Harare at Gweru Sports Club on April 19th.  As the countdown continues, one thing is clear, Doek and Slay is a movement that is reshaping how women connect, celebrate, and succeed together. This sought after show is unpredictable, who knows, probably for 9 September Zimbabwean ladie will charter a plane for the Doek and Slay UK show.
