A local medical doctor has credited Seed Co’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme for transforming his life, as the company hosted its inaugural Career Guidance Day at its Stapleford facility in Mt Hampden.
Dr. Danmore Chinsala, now serving as the company doctor, shared his journey from humble beginnings in Epworth to becoming one of Zimbabwe’s top medical graduates, attributing his success to financial support received through Seed Co’s bursary initiative.
“I once wrote a composition in Grade 4 at Kubatana Primary School in Epworth titled ‘When I grow up I want to become a Medical Doctor,’ so I am happy that Seed Co enabled my dream to come true,” said Dr. Chinsala. “I completed my medical degree at the University of Zimbabwe College of Health Sciences with a book prize and graduated as one of the best students in 2020. This was only possible through the financial assistance that Seed Co provided during my tertiary education.”

Dr. Chinsala explained that the support he received relieved the financial burden on his family and allowed him to focus fully on his studies. His academic excellence and eventual qualification as a doctor stresses the long-term impact of investing in education through the CSR programmes.
Speaking at the same event, Seed Co Managing Director Felistus Ndawi Gurajena said the initiative reflects the company’s broader vision of nurturing future leaders.
“This is a very special day for us at Seed Co as our first Career Guidance Day that we are all here sharing more knowledge on what we do at Seed Co,” she said, addressing students and bursary beneficiaries. “You are not just guests today, you are now part of the Seed Co family. Today is about your future, your dreams, and the possibilities ahead of you.”

Gurajena emphasized that Seed Co as an agricultural company, has a diversity of many careers within the organization, including science, engineering, finance, ICT, and marketing.
“Behind every seed is a team of people with very different skills and careers,” she said. “What you choose to study and the effort you put in now will shape your future.”
The Career Guidance Day, held under the theme “Ready to Sprout, Grow Your Impact,” brought students from the company’s bursary programme and other school children who included staff member’s families for a tour of the place, departmental exhibitions, and mentorship sessions.

Seed Co’s bursary programme currently supports 37 students across primary, secondary, and tertiary levels, while additional initiatives include scholarship schemes and exam fee assistance aimed at reducing school dropouts and promoting educational equity.
Dr. Chinsala, now giving back through his role at Seed Co and community health education initiatives, said the programme’s impact goes beyond financial assistance.
“This journey shows that when someone invests in you, you must also invest in others,” he said.
Seed Co’s CSR efforts are helping break cycles of poverty by empowering beneficiaries to become professionals and contributors to the national development.
