Delta Beverages has donated 100 hospital beds to public health institutions across Zimbabwe, beginning with a handover of 10 beds to Sally Mugabe Central Hospital as part of its corporate social responsibility initiative.
The donation, made under the company’s flagship Castle Lager brand, marks the first phase of a nationwide programme targeting 10 hospitals across all provinces.
Speaking at the handover ceremony in Harare, Delta Beverages representatives said the initiative is part of commitments made during the 10th anniversary of the Castle Lager Friday campaign.
“We are proud to announce that Delta Beverages has committed to donating a total of 100 state-of the art hospital beds, which will be distributed across 10 hospitals nationwide,” the company said. “This reflects our continued dedication to national development and the well-being of the communities that support us,” said Mr Irimayi Muzorewa the Delta Corporation Marketing Director.
Muzorewa added that the donation is aimed at improving patient comfort and supporting healthcare workers in delivering quality services.

The Chief Medical Officer at Sally Mugabe Central Hospital, Hopewell Mungani, welcomed the donation, describing it as timely and critical in strengthening service delivery at one of Zimbabwe’s largest referral hospitals.
“This institution remains one of the largest referral hospitals in Zimbabwe, with a wide range of specialized services,” he said. “Our capacity stands at approximately 1,250 beds, and we are especially grateful for the addition of 10 more beds, which will go a long way in improving patient care.”
Mungani noted that the hospital’s paediatric and psychiatric units continue to experience high demand, making the additional beds essential.
“We have been running short of beds and had recently initiated orders for more. This support is well aligned with our needs and comes at a crucial time when demand for services continues to grow,” he said.
He also acknowledged Delta Beverages’ previous support, including a donation of equipment valued at approximately US$50,000 two years ago, which helped transform the hospital’s rehabilitation unit.
“Today, that unit is one of the most well-equipped in the country, even compared to private facilities, and has consistently received awards for quality over the past two years,” Mungani said.
The hospital management and staff expressed their appreciation for the partnership, highlighting the role of the private sector support in strengthening Zimbabwe’s public healthcare system.
The handover marks the first of the 10 planned distributions, as Delta Beverages rolls out the programme nationwide.
