Delta Corporation has inducted 100 students into its bursary programme, reaffirming its commitment to education and skills development as part of efforts to build Zimbabwe’s future workforce.
The induction ceremony, held at the Mandel Training Centre under the theme “Educating Today’s Learners, Powering Zimbabwe’s Future,” brought together beneficiaries from across the country, including A-Level and university students from underprivileged backgrounds.
Speaking at the event, Delta General Manager for Corporate Affairs and company spokesperson, Patricia Murambinda, said the initiative is designed to remove financial barriers and unlock potential among high-performing learners.
“Delta remains committed to supporting Zimbabwe’s national development agenda by investing in education and skills. Through this bursary programme, we are helping to protect learners’ potential from financial barriers and strengthen the country’s future workforce,” she said.
Murambinda added that the programme is a practical contribution to sustainable community development and economic growth.
The bursary scheme, which has been running for over two decades, supports approximately 100 students annually and has benefited more than 1,300 learners to date, with total investment exceeding US$2.1 million. Beneficiaries are selected in partnership with the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education to ensure support reaches deserving students nationwide.

Among this year’s beneficiaries is Mabayi Epafrodito, an A-Level student from Hama High School in Chirumhanzu, Midlands Province, who is studying Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry.
“My long-term goal is to become a qualified civil engineer. I am passionate about using engineering to create practical solutions that improve people’s lives,” he said. “This scholarship plays a crucial role in helping me achieve that goal by enabling me to complete my studies and build a meaningful future.”
Epafrodito, who attended the event with his aunt Getrude Gumbo due to his mother’s illness, excelled academically at O-Level, achieving 10 As and two Bs. His aunt said the bursary has brought relief to the family, which had been struggling to meet his school fees.
He is among several high-achieving students benefiting from the programme, with some alumni who excelled at A-Level and progressed to university also being recognized during the ceremony.

The event, directed by mentor Mr Kissmore Murandu, highlighted Delta’s broader investment in education, which includes infrastructure development, artisan training through technical institutes, and graduate development programmes.
Murandu urged the beneficiaries to pursue excellence and use the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to their communities and national development.
