A Heartfelt Farewell: German Ambassador Volz Concludes Tour of Duty

German Ambassador to Zimbabwe, Udo Volz, has concluded his four-and-a-half-year tour of duty in the country, leaving behind a legacy of strengthened bilateral relations and cultural exchange. In a heartfelt message on the German Embassy’s Facebook page, Ambassador Volz expressed his gratitude to the people of Zimbabwe for their kindness, hospitality, and openness during his stay.

I have been treated with kindness, hospitality, and openness by Zimbabweans,” Ambassador Volz said, highlighting the warmth and generosity he experienced during his time in the country. He also praised the creativity, solidarity, and spirituality of the Zimbabwean people, citing the embassy’s work with women artists from Matobo, known for their traditional hut painting, and intercultural exchanges with musicians.

The ambassador specifically thanked project partners, social media followers, and all those interested in Germany and its bilateral relations with Zimbabwe for their engagement and support. “I thank you all – also on behalf of the Embassy and on behalf of Marianne, my wife – for the moments and the work we have shared,” he said.

In a nod to the country’s languages and cultures, Ambassador Volz bid farewell in Shona, Ndebele, and German, saying “Tinotenda, siyabonga, vielen Dank!! Musare zvakanaka, lisale kuhle, auf wiedersehen (We thank you, we thank you, thank you very much!! Stay well, stay well, goodbye
