NetOne Q4 Report Shows Strong Digital Growth

NetOne has closed 2025 on a high note after the Postal and Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe (POTRAZ) Fourth Quarter 2025 Sector Performance Report confirmed the mobile operator’s strong growth in data usage, infrastructure expansion, and rural connectivity leadership.

The report positions NetOne as a key driver of Zimbabwe’s digital transformation, highlighting significant gains in mobile internet traffic and subscriber growth. According to the findings, NetOne recorded an 18.5 percent increase in data traffic, rising from 25.29 billion megabytes in the third quarter to 29.97 billion megabytes in the final quarter of the year. This marks the highest growth among major mobile network operators during the period and reflects a rapidly increasing demand for data services across the country.

The surge in data usage also translated into a 1.14 percentage point increase in NetOne’s market share for mobile internet and data traffic, strengthening its competitiveness in Zimbabwe’s evolving telecommunications sector. At the same time, the operator’s active subscriber base grew from 4,062,894 to 4,101,492, underlining continued consumer confidence in its services.

Driving this performance is an aggressive infrastructure expansion strategy aimed at enhancing network coverage nationwide. During the quarter, NetOne deployed 89 new LTE base stations and expanded its 5G footprint from 21 to 26 sites. POTRAZ noted that the operator continues to make significant progress in both 3G and LTE deployments, helping improve connectivity across urban centres and remote areas alike.

NetOne’s dominance in rural connectivity emerged as one of the report’s standout findings. The company now accounts for 46.14 percent of Zimbabwe’s rural base stations, making it one of the largest contributors to bridging the digital divide. This extensive rural presence is enabling access to critical services, including online education, mobile financial platforms, healthcare information, and digital commerce for previously underserved communities.

Group Chief Executive Officer Engineer Raphael Mushanawani said the results reaffirm the company’s long-term vision of inclusive digital growth. He emphasized that NetOne remains focused on expanding access to reliable and affordable connectivity for all Zimbabweans.

“These results affirm our commitment to connecting communities, empowering businesses and accelerating Zimbabwe’s digital transformation through resilient and accessible network infrastructure,” he said.

NetOne’s growth has also been supported by a renewed focus on customer-centric innovation. The company continues to roll out affordable broadband packages, enhanced OneMoney services, and tailored data solutions targeting students, entrepreneurs, and rural users. These offerings are helping to drive digital adoption while improving customer experience.

Beyond commercial performance, the operator has strengthened its corporate social responsibility initiatives. These include drilling boreholes in drought-affected communities, supporting schools with digital learning tools, and partnering with healthcare providers to deliver community wellness programmes.

Internally, NetOne is also making strides in promoting diversity and inclusion. Women currently make up 436 of the company’s 1,045 employees, reflecting a growing commitment to gender balance within the telecommunications sector.

As Zimbabwe accelerates its transition toward a data-driven economy powered by broadband and emerging technologies such as 5G, NetOne’s latest performance underscores its role as a leading force in shaping the country’s digital future. The company’s momentum has also been recognized at a national level, with Engineer Mushanawani recently being inducted into the Business Leaders Hall of Fame 2026 in recognition of his leadership and contribution to the sector.
