Zimbabwe’s world-renowned Afro-fusion band Mokoomba is set to add another historic chapter to its illustrious career after securing a prestigious performance slot at the AFCON Fan Zone in Agadir, Morocco. The performance, scheduled for December 20, 2025, comes as part of the official Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Fan Zone activities, placing the Victoria Falls–bred outfit at the heart of one of Africa’s biggest sporting and cultural celebrations.

The show follows a special invitation extended by the Moroccan Ministry of Culture, working in collaboration with the Confederation of African Football (CAF). The invitation underscores Mokoomba’s growing stature as cultural ambassadors for Zimbabwe and Africa at large, with their music consistently transcending borders, languages and genres.

AFCON Fan Zones are designed to be vibrant cultural hubs that bring together football, music and African identity, attracting thousands of fans from across the continent and beyond. Mokoomba’s inclusion on the programme highlights the band’s ability to connect diverse audiences through their energetic live performances and rich Afro-fusion sound, which blends traditional Tonga rhythms with funk, soul, rock and pan-African influences.

Over the years, Mokoomba has built an enviable international reputation, performing on some of the world’s most prestigious stages, including major festivals in Europe, Asia and the Americas. Their music has been widely praised for its authenticity, technical brilliance and powerful storytelling, often reflecting African pride, unity and resilience. The Agadir performance marks yet another milestone, reinforcing their position as one of Zimbabwe’s most successful musical exports.

For Zimbabwe, the AFCON Fan Zone appearance represents more than entertainment. It is a moment of cultural representation on a continental platform, showcasing the country’s creative excellence during Africa’s premier football tournament. As Morocco hosts AFCON, Mokoomba’s presence ensures that Zimbabwe’s flag will be flying high, not only in sport but in music and culture.

Fans can expect a high-energy set in Agadir, with the band delivering their signature electrifying performance to an international audience, further cementing their legacy as global torchbearers of Zimbabwean music.
