Schweppes Zimbabwe Managing Director Stanley Muchenje and his team recently hosted a colourful prize-giving ceremony in Harare to honour winners of the Mazoe Magic Buy and Win promotion, celebrating customer loyalty to one of the country’s most iconic beverages.
The event brought together winners with their families, company executives and members of the media in a lively atmosphere that reflected Mazoe’s enduring place in Zimbabwean households.
The highlight of the ceremony was the recognition of Thembani Ngwenya of Umzingwane, who walked away with the first prize, a complete solar power system, after what he described as a remarkable 57-year love affair with Mazoe. Ngwenya’s story struck a chord with many in the audience, symbolizing the deep emotional connection generations of Zimbabweans have, with the orange crush drink.
Speaking at the event, he said Mazoe had been his favourite beverage for nearly six decades, adding that he had always found joy in drinking it and never imagined that his loyalty would one day be rewarded in such a life-changing way.
Second prize went to Rodreck Hove, while Rumbidzai Musikavanhu scooped third prize, receiving a year’s supply of Mazoe. Other winners celebrated on the day included Chamunorwa Chibhebhe and Sibusisiwe Sibanda.
The mentioned participants won prizes such as a PlayStation 5, a refrigerator and a gas stove, underscoring the wide range of rewards designed to appeal to households across the country and also the solar system which will beat the load shedding challenge.

The Mazoe Magic Buy and Win promotion ran from July to October and was open to consumers who purchased a two-litre Mazoe drink, completed an entry form and dropped it into designated entry boxes. Schweppes Zimbabwe reported outstanding success from the campaign, which boosted Mazoe sales by more than 18 percent and saw over 120,000 hectolitres sold during the promotional period with over 9000 entries.
Muchenje described Mazoe as a flagship brand not only for Schweppes Zimbabwe but for the nation at large, noting that its success is rooted in generations of trust, consistent quality and shared family memories. He said the overwhelming response to the promotion demonstrated how deeply Mazoe is woven into everyday Zimbabwean life.

The celebrations were capped by spirited performances from popular musician Mbeu and his band, Mhodzi Tribe, who kept the audience entertained throughout the ceremony.
Beyond local success, Muchenje revealed that Mazoe’s strong performance has reinforced Schweppes Zimbabwe’s ambition to take the brand to the global stage. He said Mazoe is now being exported to Australia, Europe, the United Kingdom, the Americas and several African markets, positioning the drink not only as a taste of home for Zimbabweans abroad but as a proudly local brand with growing international appeal.
