ZTA Issues Final Warning: Mandatory Registration for All Tourism Operators
48
Harare, Zimbabwe – The Government of Zimbabwe, through the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority (ZTA), has issued a public notice emphasizing the mandatory registration of all tourism-related businesses.
This initiative is part of the government’s ongoing efforts to enhance the Ease of Doing Business, reduce licensing and registration fees, and foster a competitive, compliant, and sustainable tourism sector.
In accordance with Section 36 of the Tourism Act [Chapter 14:20], all designated tourist facilities are required to register with the ZTA. This is a statutory requirement, and non-compliance will lead to severe consequences.
Failure to register with the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority will result in the closure of unregistered facilities. To ensure adherence to regulatory standards, the ZTA, in collaboration with law enforcement agencies, will conduct nationwide inspections across all ten provinces.
These inspections aim to verify registration status and take enforcement action against all non-compliant operators.
The public is strongly encouraged to report any tourism facility operating without valid registration to the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority.
The deadline for registration is 28 February 2026. Inspections and enforcement actions will commence from 1 March 2026.
For more information on the registration process, tourism facility operators are advised to:
