The Creative Economy Week 2025 event is taking place from March 5 to 9 bringing together key stakeholders, artists, and industry leaders to strengthen the country’s creative and cultural industries. Hosted by the British Council Zimbabwe in collaboration with the Embassy of Switzerland and the Swiss Development Agency for Cooperation, this year’s event is themed “Growth Re-imagined: Putting People and Their Creative Potential at the Centre of Sustainable Growth.”
At a press briefing held in Harare, key figures from the British Council and the Embassy of Switzerland, including Chipo Kanyumbu (British Council Zimbabwe, Head of Arts), Farai Ncube (British Council Regional Arts Director Africa), Richard Nyamanhindi (Embassy of Switzerland, Programme Manager – Arts & Culture), and Lloyd Anderson (British Council Zimbabwe, Country Director & Cluster Lead Southern Africa), highlighted the event’s focus on innovation, collaboration, and inclusivity.
The Creative Economy Week 2025 will foster growth in the creative and cultural industries (CCIs) by providing a platform for networking, education, skills development, and market opportunities.
The conference will feature:

This year’s edition builds upon the success of last year’s event by supporting diverse creative ecosystems with a special focus on empowering young creatives, women, and marginalized communities.

Literature Publishing Roundtable– Hosted by author and poet Maggie Chideme, in collaboration with The Lifeline Narrative and Business of Books, this session will explore Zimbabwe’s publishing landscape and innovative business models.
Intellectual Property Rights in the Creative and Cultural Industries – Led by the Ministry of Sports, Recreation, Arts, and Culture alongside B Matanga Legal Practitioners, this discussion will focus on copyright protection, rights management, and legal frameworks essential for a thriving creative economy.
Bulawayo | March 5 and 7 | The Oasis Creators Hub, 19 Falcon Street, Belmont
Magitare Confluence Organized by Magitare Africa Trust, this event, led by musician Tariro “neGitare” Chaniwa, will explore creativity, innovation, and entrepreneurship.
Keynote Speaker: Dumisani Nkala, Managing Director of Telco Broadband and Beyond
Industry Experts Panel: Walter Wanyanya, Terrence Mugova, Carl Joshua Ncube, Mpi Ndebele, Cleopatra Dube.
