The 72nd edition of the prestigious Miss World Festival will be held in Telangana, India, in 2025, marking a historic moment for the globally renowned event. Celebrating culture, leadership, and empowerment, the festival will take place from May 7th to May 31st, featuring a variety of activities across the state. The grand finale in Hyderabad will see the current Miss World, Krystyna Pyszková of Czechia, pass the crown to her successor.
Following the success of the 71st Miss World, hosted in New Delhi and Mumbai, the event now shifts to Telangana, a state celebrated for its unique mix of tradition and modernity. The announcement was made jointly by Julia Morley CBE, Chairman and CEO of Miss World Limited, and Ms. Smita Sabharwal, Secretary to the Government of Telangana, Tourism, Culture, Heritage, and Youth Affairs Department.
Morley shared her excitement about the choice of location, saying, “We are thrilled to bring the 72nd Miss World Festival to Telangana, a state that embodies rich culture, innovation, and warm hospitality. Collaborating with the Telangana government allows us to highlight its remarkable heritage and rapid development to a global audience. This partnership goes beyond hosting a beauty pageant; it’s about empowering communities, celebrating diversity, and creating a lasting impact through our shared vision of beauty with a purpose.”
Ms. Sabharwal also welcomed the opportunity, emphasizing Telangana’s cultural depth. “Telangana is honored to host the 72nd Miss World 2025, inviting the world to experience a land where beauty is not just visual but deeply rooted in its people, culture, and traditions. Telangana is a place where every festival is a celebration of joy, and every artisan’s creation tells a story of skill and dedication. This is Telangana, a true symbol of beauty.”
Among the participants, Zimbabwe will be represented by Courtney Jongwe, the reigning Miss World Zimbabwe. A 23-year-old Chemical and Processing Engineering student at Manicaland State University, Courtney has already made her mark on the global stage, having represented Zimbabwe at the 2023 Miss Earth competition. Passionate about mental health advocacy, she plans to use this platform to promote her cause and inspire meaningful change.
With contestants from over 120 countries and territories, the 72nd Miss World Festival promises to be a spectacular celebration of beauty, culture, and empowerment, as Telangana steps into the spotlight to host one of the world’s most iconic events.
