The Palestinian Embassy in Zimbabwe has drawn attention to the severe consequences of ongoing Israeli military operations on Palestinian women in the occupied West Bank and Gaza. These women endure immense hardships, including forced displacement under the constant threat of violence, denial of basic rights such as life, housing, and security, and unimaginable suffering amid relentless conflict.

In Gaza, the situation is particularly dire. Over 12,316 Palestinian women have lost their lives, while 162,000 have contracted infectious diseases due to the dire living conditions caused by the siege. Tragically, 50,000 pregnant women have suffered miscarriages, and 2,000 women and girls have been left permanently disabled following limb amputations. These figures underscore the catastrophic humanitarian crisis unfolding in the region.

Ambassador Tamer Almassri has emphasized that the actions of the Israeli government represent a clear violation of human rights and an attempt to displace Palestinians from their homeland. He highlighted that the systematic forced expulsions, displacement, and resettlement efforts are part of a broader strategy to undermine Palestinian identity. However, he affirmed that these efforts will not succeed, as the Palestinian people remain steadfast in their pursuit of an independent state with Jerusalem as its capital.

The embassy has called on the international community to take decisive action. It urged global leaders to hold Israel accountable for its actions, impose targeted sanctions to pressure an end to the aggression, and ensure the protection of Palestinian lives. Additionally, the embassy stressed the urgent need for unrestricted humanitarian aid to alleviate the suffering of women and children, who are among the most vulnerable in this conflict.

The State of Palestine also appealed for international recognition of its right to self-determination and a just resolution to the conflict based on international law and United Nations resolutions. The embassy reiterated that the world must not remain silent in the face of such widespread suffering and that collective efforts are essential to achieving lasting peace and justice for the Palestinian people.
