Harare – The Diplomat of the Year Awards will return on 27 March 2026 for their 14th edition, reaffirming their position as one of Zimbabwe’s most respected platforms for recognising excellence in diplomacy, international cooperation and development.

Held under the theme Diplomacy in Action, Impact in Motion, the 2026 Awards will honour diplomats, development partners and institutions whose work demonstrates measurable results, sustained engagement and real-world impact.

Founded in 2009, the Diplomat of the Year Awards have evolved over the past thirteen years from a recognition of diplomatic presence to a platform that increasingly emphasises performance, accountability and outcomes.

“Diplomacy today is no longer judged by speeches and symbolism alone,” said Reginald Chapfunga, founder of the Diplomat of the Year Awards. “It is judged by what it delivers — partnerships formed, lives improved and solutions created. This year’s Awards are about recognising diplomacy that is active, responsive and effective.”

Chapfunga said the 14th Edition represents a moment of maturity for the platform, reflecting both continuity and credibility. He noted that the Awards have consistently mirrored the diplomatic priorities of their time, while adapting to emerging global realities.

Over the years, the platform has honoured ambassadors and development partners for advancing dialogue, peace and cooperation, as well as catalysing partnerships between diplomatic missions, international organisations, governments and the private sector.

According to the organisers, the 2026 edition will place particular emphasis on initiatives that move beyond intention to implementation, recognising long-term engagement and programmes that continue to generate value.

The Awards will convene a high-level audience including Ambassadors, High Commissioners, representatives of United Nations agencies and international organisations, senior government officials, development partners, corporate leaders and members of the Diplomat Business Networking Club
