The Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF) has shifted its focus to “Innovation: The Catalyst to Industrialisation and Trade” to highlight the crucial role of innovation in driving economic growth and international trade.
The (ZITF) is gearing up for its highly anticipated event, set to take place from 23rd to 27th April 2024. Initially, the theme focused on ‘Entrepreneurship: The Catalyst to Industrialisation and Trade’
In a statement released by ZITF Chairman, Busisa Moyo, he emphasised the significance of the new theme, stating, “Innovation and entrepreneurship are key drivers of economic progress. By broadening our focus to include innovation as a catalyst for industrialization and trade, we aim to create pathways to sustainable economic growth and prosperity for all.”
The ZITF Company acknowledges the vibrant and growing innovation scene in Zimbabwe, largely attributed to government initiatives aligned with Vision 2030. Vision 2030 prioritises promoting innovation, entrepreneurship, equitable development, and overall prosperity.
Moyo further added, “Zimbabwe has immense potential for fostering innovation and attracting investments. We believe that by highlighting innovative solutions, we can equip businesses with the necessary tools and strategies to succeed in the ever-evolving global landscape.”
The expanded theme encompasses a wide range of topics, aiming to attract exhibitors engaged in various sectors and industries. The ZITF Company recognizes the need to include disruptive innovation and its impact on industries, the power of digitalization for sustainable growth, grassroots innovation and tech start-ups, green technologies and eco-friendly practices, creative initiatives driving social responsibility and inclusive development, as well as leveraging opportunities and synergies with international trading partners.
With the trade fair preparations reaching their climax, the response from exhibitors has been overwhelmingly positive. Currently, the exhibition space is at an impressive 98% capacity, with 517 exhibitors having secured 48,881 square metres out of the available 49,499 square metres. Recognizing the high demand, the ZITF Company plans to erect a marquee to accommodate the exhibitors on the waiting list.
International participation is also robust, with confirmed exhibits from 27 countries spanning the globe. These countries include Botswana, Belarus, Brazil, China, Eswatini, the European Union, France, Germany, Indonesia, Italy, Iran, Japan, Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Netherlands, Nigeria, Romania, South Africa, South Korea, Sweden, Tanzania, the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom, the United States of America, and Zambia. The global representation signifies the importance of international trade and collaboration in driving economic development.
