The 4th Antalya Diplomacy Forum (ADF), organized by Turkish Foreign Minister Hon. Hakan Fidan and supported by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, wrapped up on April 13. The forum attracted global attention with its relevant theme, “Reclaiming Diplomacy in a Fragmented World.” Over three days, it gathered 21 Heads of State, 64 Foreign Ministers, and more than 6,000 delegates from 155 countries.
Zimbabwe was represented by Ambassador to Türkiye, Alfred Mutiwazuka, who highlighted the country’s dedication to international cooperation and regional unity. In an interview with seasoned journalists Zandile “Zaza” Ndlovu and Victoria Ruzvidzo from Zimpapers, he noted that the forum offered Zimbabwe a valuable opportunity to connect with global leaders, business figures, and diplomats.
“This year’s theme addresses the increasing division in international relations. It urges us to revive multilateralism and collaborate as global citizens to face urgent issues like economic inequality, conflict, and climate change,” he stated.

Ambassador Mutiwazuka also emphasized the role of regional groups like the Southern African Development Community (SADC), which Zimbabwe currently leads. “The ADF inspired the idea of creating a SADC-focused diplomatic forum to enhance regional cooperation and economic integration,” he explained.
Trade between Zimbabwe and Türkiye has been growing, increasing from $19 million in 2019 to $45 million by 2024. The two nations are finalizing over 18 Memoranda of Understanding in various sectors, including mining, education, defense, and agriculture. Zimbabwe exports products such as tobacco, sesame seeds, and minerals to Türkiye while importing textiles, machinery, and electrical goods.
Ambassador Mutiwazuka urged Zimbabwean businesses and officials to engage in Türkiye’s regular trade expos and forums. “We need to take the initiative to build confidence and create frameworks that support investment growth and technology sharing,” he added.
The forum also showcased Türkiye’s ongoing support for Zimbabwe, with Turkish Ambassador to Zimbabwe H.E. Berna Kasnaklı Versteden, praised for her active role in enhancing bilateral relations. She has been instrumental in promoting cooperation in health, education, agriculture, and infrastructure, as well as advocating for scholarship opportunities for Zimbabwean students.
Zimbabwe’s strong presence at ADF 2025 represents a clear shift toward global engagement, regional unity, and strategic diplomacy in a rapidly changing world.
