Strengthening bilateral relations: Kenyan President Ruto visits Zimbabwe

Bulawayo, Zimbabwe – In a display of the longstanding friendship and cooperation between Kenya and Zimbabwe, a State Banquet was held at State House in Bulawayo to honour the official visit of Kenyan President, Dr William Ruto. The banquet served as a platform for both leaders to reaffirm their commitment to bilateral relations and discuss the pressing issues facing Africa.

Addressing the distinguished guests attending the banquet, President Emmerson Mnangagwa extended a warm welcome to President Ruto, highlighting the significance of his visit as a testament of the deep and enduring ties between their nations.

He stated, “Tonight, we gather to celebrate not only the friendship between our countries but also the shared values and aspirations that bind us together. President Ruto’s presence here tonight is a symbol of the strong bond we have nurtured over the years.”

President Mnangagwa expressed his sincere appreciation to President Ruto for his unwavering support in advocating against the sanctions imposed on Zimbabwe at international forums, including the United Nations General Assembly. He acknowledged President Ruto’s resolute stance, saying, “I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude to President Ruto for consistently speaking out against the unjust sanctions that have hindered our nation’s progress. His voice, raised on the global stage, has been a beacon of hope for Zimbabwe.”

During his address, President Mnangagwa also emphasized the importance of increased cooperation among African countries to foster economic growth and development across the continent. He underlined the need for a united Africa, stating, “As we embark on the journey towards economic prosperity, it is imperative that we strengthen our bonds of friendship and solidarity. Together, we can overcome the challenges that lie ahead and build a brighter future for our people.”

President Ruto, in his response, expressed his gratitude for the warm reception and reiterated his commitment to deepening the ties between Kenya and Zimbabwe. He remarked, “I am truly honoured to be here tonight, and I extend my sincere appreciation to President Mnangagwa for his kind words and gracious hospitality. Kenya and Zimbabwe share a long history of friendship, and it is my belief that by strengthening our cooperation, we can unlock immense potential for the benefit of our people.”

President Ruto commended President Mnangagwa’s leadership and highlighted the importance of unity among African nations. He stated, “I stand here today as a representative of the Kenyan people, who share a common aspiration for progress and prosperity. I believe that by working together, African nations can create an environment conducive to economic growth and advancement. Let us seize this moment to forge stronger partnerships and march forward towards a brighter future.”
