The Palestinian Ambassador to Zimbabwe, Dr. Tamer Almassri, has issued a stark warning that Israel’s unchecked aggression in Gaza will have devastating implications for global peace and security if the international community continues to look the other way.

Dr. Almassri said the Israeli apartheid state has grown accustomed to acting with impunity, emboldened by silence and inaction from global powers. He cautioned that unless Israel is held accountable, it will continue to commit reckless acts, “even against its allies, under the guise of fabricated excuses.”

His remarks come as Gaza City has been reduced to rubble by relentless Israeli bombardments. According to Palestinian authorities, more than 65,283 people have been martyred, with women and children making up the majority of victims. Over 12,000 civilians remain trapped beneath collapsed buildings, while entire neighborhoods have been flattened by airstrikes and remotely controlled robotic explosives.

Dr. Almassri condemned what he described as Israel’s “blatant disregard for international law” and “systematic crimes against humanity.” He accused Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of spearheading genocidal policies with pride and arrogance, setting what he called “a dangerous precedent that threatens the credibility of the international system itself.”

He drew chilling parallels between Israel’s forced displacement of Palestinians in Gaza and the ghettos of Nazi Germany. He said the herding of civilians into Khan Younis under scorched-earth tactics, the use of internationally prohibited weapons, deliberate starvation, and the destruction of essential infrastructure resembled “modern-day concentration camps orchestrated by fascist leadership.”

Despite the grim reality, Ambassador Almassri acknowledged what he described as encouraging international developments. He welcomed recent policy shifts by Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, and other nations, viewing them as signs of recognition of the “just and legitimate rights of the Palestinian people.” He said such gestures were crucial in defending the two-state solution against the threats posed by occupation crimes, including genocide, forced displacement, and annexation.

“The world must decide whether it stands for justice or for impunity,” Dr. Almassri declared. “Failing to hold Israel accountable not only betrays Palestine but also endangers the very principles upon which global peace and security rest.”

The ambassador’s remarks highlight a growing diplomatic push by Palestine to rally support across Africa and beyond, even as Gaza continues to endure one of the deadliest military campaigns in modern history.
