Ambassador Almassri Condemns Gaza Bombardment, Calls for Permanent Ceasefire

Ambassador Tamer Almassri has issued a strong and unequivocal condemnation of what he described as the “ongoing and relentless” bombardment of Gaza by Israeli forces, warning that the latest escalation represents a grave violation of the established ceasefire agreement and an unacceptable assault on civilian life. According to the ambassador, the most recent attacks have claimed the lives of at least 51 Palestinians, including six children and several police officers, further deepening an already devastating humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip.

In a statement released this week, Ambassador Almassri said the renewed violence demonstrates a dangerous disregard for international law and the basic principles of human dignity. He stressed that the people of Gaza are not merely seeking a temporary pause in hostilities, but a genuine, permanent ceasefire that guarantees their safety and preserves their right to live in peace.

“The people of Gaza deserve more than a pause in violence; they deserve a real and lasting ceasefire,” Almassri said. “We demand an immediate end to this genocidal war, a total cessation of all ceasefire violations, and a definitive end to the occupation. The continued targeting of civilians and public servants is not only immoral but a direct breach of international humanitarian standards.”

The ambassador highlighted the staggering scale of human loss since the conflict intensified in October 2023. According to figures he cited, at least 71,795 Palestinians have been killed and 171,551 injured as a result of Israel’s military operations. He noted that these numbers reflect not just statistics, but families torn apart, communities destroyed, and an entire generation living under constant fear and trauma.

Alarmingly, Almassri pointed out that even after a ceasefire was declared to be in effect on October 11, 2025, violence has not subsided. Instead, he said, the period that followed has seen a further rise in casualties, with 523 people killed and 1,433 injured since the ceasefire began. He described this as clear evidence that the agreement is being repeatedly violated and that meaningful enforcement mechanisms are urgently needed.

Humanitarian agencies operating in the region have echoed concerns about worsening conditions, including shortages of food, clean water, medical supplies, and safe shelter. Hospitals are reportedly overwhelmed, while thousands of families remain displaced, struggling to survive amid ongoing airstrikes.

Ambassador Almassri urged the international community to move beyond statements of concern and take decisive action. He called on world leaders, international institutions, and human rights bodies to intervene, protect Palestinian civilians, and ensure that those responsible for violations are held accountable.

“The world cannot remain silent while an entire population suffers,” he said. “There must be collective action to uphold justice, safeguard lives, and work toward a sustainable peace that recognizes the rights and dignity of the Palestinian people.”

He concluded by reaffirming his commitment to advocating for peace, justice, and accountability, warning that failure to act now will only prolong the cycle of violence and deepen the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza.
